Pehar
a watch of three hours, one-eighth of the day
Dressing for the hour instead of the occasion. Registry offices, morning pujas, courthouse corridors, lunches — rooms lit flat from overhead, where velvet goes muddy and zardosi goes harsh. Of the eight watches, this is the one that happens in daylight.
What it looks like.
- chiffon, georgette, organza
- ivory, champagne, powder blue, sage, dusty rose
- scalloped edges
- tonal pearl work instead of metal thread
- one piece of jewellery, never a set
What it is cut from.
- draped chiffon saree
- organza with tonal work
- silk-cotton kurta set
Not pastel as a wedding trend: Pehar is a response to light, not to Pinterest.
